So many ideas, so little time...

Pfff, do any of you have the same problem?
I want to make a new backdrop for my tank, add new plants, put in new gravel, add extra lighting,...

So many ideas and "to dos", but I can't even get the little things done.

Maybe I should pretend to be sick for a week or so, so I can stay home from work. But don't tell anyone I had that thought. ;)

P. connieae growing fast

Hey,

It's me again. I ordered a new camera, so who knows, maybe soon I'll be able to take some decent photos. :)

Anyway, the Pseudomugil connieae are growing fast. But as it turns out, I think I only have one male and 4 females. At least if I judge the finnage correctly. I'm going to keep them in the tank they are in now, and I hope than in a month or two they'll start spawning.

When the camera arrives I'll try to put some new pictures up.

IRG

Yesterday was the first IRG Belgium meeting of this year.

We saw a very interesting dissertation on "The history of Rainbowfish".

If you're into rainbowfish, I really suggest you join the IRG because they will give you the possibility to find the most beautiful rainbowfish in Europe.

Long time no blog, huh?

Well, what I can say. I've been busy.

I was working on a new website for our aquariumclub, which is finally finished. So I have got some spare time again.

I'm working on a new project for my main aquarium. I'm going to add an extra TL light (T8) in an effort to grow some "low to the ground" plants such as Pogostemon helferi or Lileaopsis. I love those plants, but they just won't grow in my tank. (YET! ;) )

The CO2 system is working great now, my Eustralis stellata has never looked better.

Algae is a lot better too, just some green thread algae left, but nothing in the amounts of last year. So I'm quite happy about that.

Only thing bothering me at the moment (there's always something to nag about, isn't there? ;-) ), is that the snails in my tank are multiplying just a bit too rapidly to my taste. Hehe. I'll have to catch a few dozen again soon.

I tried to make some photographs again, but it's useless with my current camera. I'm looking to buy a new camera, but there's so many choices I haven't got a clue anymore what to pick. My budget is about 400 euro so if anyone has any suggestions, they are more than welcome!

Pressurized CO2 system

Hey everyone,

In an attempt to have my plants grow a bit better, I've purchased a pressurized CO2 system. It's a 2kg CO2 bottle with eletronic night switch and an outside-reactor which can be attached to the filter outlet.

I hooked it up yesterday, so now it's just waiting and hoping the plants 'kick in'. :)

Cheers,
Gunther

Pseudomugil connieae - fry

Hey everyone,

I've tried to make a photo of the P. connieae fry...

It's not a very good photo, but it's the best I could for now.

Sick fish

Sorry for the lack of updates, but I'm dealing with a sickness in my tank. Most of my Melanotaenia praecox are sick.

I don't know yet what disease it is. I'm treating with ESHA2000, but it doesn't seem to make much of a difference.

The other fish seem unaffected (thank God!).

I'd hate to loose all my Melanotaenia praecox, but the way it's looking now, that might just be the case.

Serious bummer!

Pseudomugil connieae

Hey,

Roughly six months ago I obtained 6 Pseudomugil connieae from a German rainbowfish breeder. However, I lost them due to the extreme heat in early July.

I was quite devastated by this loss, because these fish are very rare.
Luckily for me, I was able to contact another German breeder last month and he was willing to send me some eggs.

So at the moment, I have again six baby Pseudomugil connieae swimming in a little breeding tank. And I'm quite thrilled about it.

They're eating and growing very good, so I'm hoping for a good outcome this time!

I will use this blog to post on the progress.

Cheers,
Gunther

Hi everyone,

In addition to this blog I also run another website about Rainbowfish, this other website is a community forum where anyone who is interested in these awesome fish can ask other enthusiasts for advice or share their own knowledge with us.

If you are a Bowhead then I definitely urge you to have a look. You won't regret it.

The link is: Rainbowfish.info

See you there! But don't forget to come back here either!
